Premier League preview – Chelsea vs Everton prediction.

Guus Hiddink will consider making changes to his Chelsea side after conceding twice at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Gary Cahill could be in line for a recall to central defence and Pedro’s place in midfield must be under threat given the ease in which he was dispossessed by West Brom. Eden Hazard continues on the road to recovery from a groin injury but won’t return until later this month.

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar had his first taste of Premier League action this season when coming off the bench at Manchester City on Wednesday and is in line for a start against Chelsea. John Stones was moved to right back to accommodate Phil Jagielka’s return to central defence and Roberto Martinez may keep the same back four after they shut out City at Etihad Stadium. Tom Cleverley is doubtful as he recovers from a shin injury while Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy are also sidelined.

Possible Line-ups

Chelsea: 4-2-3-1 formation: Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, terry, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro; Costa

Everton: 4-2-3-1 formation: Howard; Stones, Jagielka, Mori, Baines; Besic, Barry; Delofeu Barkley, Osman; Lukaku

Prediction

Chelsea are unbeaten since Guus Hiddink took control of team affairs six games ago. The Blues have won two and drawn three of their Premier League games since the previous manager left. Hiddink’s main concern is tightening up Chelsea’s defence which has conceded five goals in the last three home games in the league.

Everton drew 0-0 at Manchester City in midweek, in a game where both sides were guilty of wasting goalscoring chances. The Toffees are unbeaten in the last five away games in the Premier League, recording four draws and one win. They’ve not won in three trips to London this season and have been beaten on the last three trips to Stamford Bridge where they last won a league game in 1994.

Chelsea’s inability to retain the lead is concerning and Everton could extend their unbeaten away run to six on Saturday.
