Premier League football tips – Chelsea vs Liverpool prediction

The main team news for Chelsea is the exclusion of Oscar, who will miss the remainder of this season due to an injury sustained in training. Diego Costa is still out through injury so there should be a starting place for Loic Remy. Brazilian midfielder Ramires is a doubt and could be replaced in midfield by Kurt Zouma.

Liverpool will have to do without Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan and Mario Balotelli for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Lucas Leiva could come in to the centre of midfield in an attempt to keep things tight, with Raheem Sterling playing up-front in the long term absence of Daniel Sturridge.

Probable Line-ups

Chelsea; 4-2-3-1 formation: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic; Matic, Zouma; Hazard, Fabregas, Willian; Remy

Liverpool: 4-3-3 formation: Mignolet; Can, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno; Henderson, Leiva, Gerrard; Lallana, Sterling, Coutinho

  • Chelsea have won 7 and drawn 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Liverpool have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Chelsea have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Liverpool have scored an average of 0.9 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Chelsea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Liverpool’s previous 10 matches
  • The reverse fixture finished 2-1 in favour of Chelsea at Anfield

Chelsea have wrapped up the title but there will be no letting up from Jose Mourinho’s team with Liverpool in town. Chelsea’s form has been excellent of late but have come in to criticism for their style of play. Of their last 8 Premier League wins, 7 have been by 1 goal, the exception a 3-1 victory at Leicester. It will be interesting to see, if Chelsea decide to try and open up now the league is won or continue playing in the same manner.

With results going their way last weekend, Liverpool still have an outside chance of finishing in a Champions League place. However, recent performances have been poor, with just 1 win from their last 4 matches in all competitions. The 4-1 defeat at Arsenal was a particularly crushing blow, along with the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Aston Villa and Brendan Rodgers is up against it at Stamford Bridge.

If the same Chelsea of the last couple of months turns up, it’s difficult to see Liverpool coming away with anything.

We say: Chelsea to win and under 2.5 goals at 10/3 with Bet365
