Premier League preview – Liverpool vs Norwich prediction

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to make a number of changes to the team which drew 1-1 with Bordeaux on Thursday night. Christian Benteke, Martin Skrtel, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne and Roberto Firmino should all come back in to the starting XI. An additional boost for Liverpool will be the return of Philippe Coutinho to the squad.

Norwich can welcome back Steven Whittaker following suspension and he is expected to slot straight back in to the team. Gary Hooper is still out with injury and Andre Wisdom can not play against his parent club. Matt Jarvis should keep his place in the team having scored on his debut.

Possible Line-ups

Liverpool: 4-2-3-1 formation: Mignolet; Clyne, Sakho, Skrtel, Gomez; Milner, Leiva; Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana; Benteke

Norwich: 4-4-1-1 formation: Ruddy; Whittaker, Bassong, Martin, Brady; Redmond, Howson, Tettey, Jarvis; Hoolahan; Jerome

Prediction

It’s been a poor couple of weeks for Liverpool and the fans will be expecting the team to up their game at home to Norwich. The 3-1 defeat to rivals Manchester United was not only a bad result but also a bad performance and anything like a repeat of that, could see them fail to win for the 5th match in succession. The return of Coutinho in midfield should help the team going forward.

Norwich have enjoyed a good start to the season, with the only blip coming in the 3-0 defeat at Southampton. However, the team recovered well to defeat Bournemouth 3-1 last weekend and this will give Norwich confidence ahead of the trip to Anfield. Considering what happened in Liverpool’s last home game, a 3-0 loss to West Ham, Alex Neil will know that if his team can keep things tight, the crowd may become restless.

Although Liverpool have been out form recently, they should have enough to overcome Norwich at home.
