Serie A preview – Genoa vs AC Milan prediction

Armando Izzo returns for Genoa following a suspension and should slot in to the back three. However, both Goran Pandev and Issa Cissokho are both serving a suspension and will miss out, along with the injured trio of Mattia Perin, Tino Costa and Ezequiel Munoz.

AC Milan could be without Juraj Kucka and Andrea Bertolacci due to injury, which could mean another start in the centre of midfield for Nigel de Jong. Having scored against Udinese in mid-week, striker Mario Balotelli should keep his place up-front, with Luiz Adriano having to settle for a place on the bench.

Possible Line-ups

Genoa: 3-4-3 formation: Lamanna; De Maio, Burdisso, Izzo; Figueiras, Dzemaili, Rincon, Laxalt; Perotti, Ntcham, Capel

AC Milan: 4-3-1-2 formation: Lopez; De Sciglio, Zapata, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Montolivo, Bonaventura, de Jong; Honda; Bacca, Balotelli

Prediction

It’s been a poor start to the season for Genoa, having won just 1 of their 5 Serie matches to date, losing the other 4 games. Goal scoring has been a real problem this season, and in the 4 games Genoa have lost, they failed to score a single goal in any of them. However, recent fixtures have not been kind with matches against Lazio, Juventus and Fiorentina and this one against Milan could also prove to be tough.

AC Milan have had a mixed start to the season, winning 3 and losing 2 of their 5 Serie A matches. Since losing a tight game 1-0 to rivals Inter, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team have really opened up and won their last 2 matches 3-2, looking great going forward but always capable of conceding goals. This is an important game in the progress of AC Milan’s season, they need a win to keep up with those above them.

Considering the form of AC Milan in-front of goal, they seem very likely to find the back of the net but the same can not be said for their hosts. Mihajlovic would love a clean sheet here and may get his wish.
