During this summer transfer window Inter Milan look like one of the teams who have done some of the best business. Bringing in players like Miranda and Kondogbia will give more defensive stability after the loss of Mateo Kovačić, while Jovetic looks like an astute singing despite failing to impress in the BPL for Manchester City. Jonathan Biabiany will add lots of pace down the wing and looks like a good replacement for Xherdan Shaqiri. A 4-3-1-2 formation looks likely considering their midfield strength.

One of Atalanta’s key midfielders; Luca Cigarini is out with a knee injury. Two defenders who featured heavily for them last season have also left: Benalouane and Zappacosta, therefore their solidity at the back will be tested against a strong looking Inter side. Atalanta have however looked strong in pre-season having not lost a game since the last Serie A campaign, and have proven to be Inter’s Achilles heel over the last few seasons.

Prediction

Inter will see this season as a failure if they don’t reach Champions League qualification after a good recruitment session this summer. An eighth place finish last campaign was disappointing, with many hoping that both Milan clubs will perform much better this year and challenge Juventus and Roma at the top of the league.

Atalanta escaped relegation by three points last season and after having completely the opposite transfer window activity to the likes of Inter, they will be tipped to end this campaign in a similar fashion to the last. I feel that their stubbornness against Inter Milan could come to an end this season.

Inter look a lot stronger this season than the last and I think they will have too much for Atalanta. If Mauro Icardi can maintain his scoring form of last season they can brush Atalanta aside.
