Miroslav Klose could keep Alessandro Matri consigned to bench after scoring twice for Lazio on his return to the lineup against Palermo last weekend. Centre-back Willie Hoedt is available following his one-match ban and could replace Milan Bisevac who has been receiving treatment on his knee this week. Edison Braafeid looks likely to miss the game due to a muscle strain and in the absence of Stefan Radu, midfielder Senad Lulic could be asked to play at left-back.
Empoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski is suspended for this match and with Marcel Buchel doubtful due to an ankle problem, Raffaele Maiello may get the opportunity to start. Centre-back Andrea Costa is over the flu and will put pressure on the inexperienced Uros Cosic who replaced him last weekend.
