Serie A preview – Roma vs Udinese prediction

Roma have both Daniele De Rossi and Mohamed Salah out through suspension. Kevin Strootman is a long term absentee and is joined on the sidelines by Francesco Totti and Seydou Keita, meaning possible starts for William Vainqueur in midfield and Iago Falque in attack.

Udinese are without a host of midfield players for the visit to Rome, including Guilherme, Panagiotis Kone and Alexander Merkel. Striker Daniel Zapata is also out with injury, meaning there are limited options for manager Stefano Colantuono to mix things up and make changes to his starting XI.

Possible Line-ups

Roma: 4-3-3 formation: Szczesny; Florenzi, Rudiger, Manolas, Digne; Nainggolan, Vainqueur, Pjanic; Gervinho, Dzeko, Falque

Udinese: 3-5-2 formation: Karnezis; Wague, Danilo, Felipe; Widmer, Badu, Lodi, Fernandes, Adnan; Di Natale, Thereau

Statistics

  • Roma have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Udinese have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Roma have scored an average of 2.6 goals and conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Udinese have scored an average of 1.2 goals and conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Roma’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Udinese’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Roma are flying in Serie A at the moment, Rudi Garcia’s team have won their last four league games in a row and have tasted defeat just once this season. Form in the Champions League hasn’t matched that of Serie A but over the course of Roma’s last five competitive games, they scored 15 goals, at an average of 3 goals per game and are certainly entertaining to watch. Garcia will want to tighten things up at the back however, having conceded 11 goals over the same period of matches.

Udinese travel to Rome in good spirits and are unbeaten in their last four Serie A games. The 1-0 home win over Frosinone at the weekend, leaves Udinese on 11 points from their 9 games, 5 points clear of the relegation zone but 7 points adrift of the European places. Udinese have won at Juventus and Bologna this season plus they picked up a point at Hellas Verona.

Although Udinese are in decent form, Roma will be brimming with confidence following their win in Florence and should take maximum points.
