Serie A football tips – Sassuolo vs Napoli prediction

Sassuolo have Francesco Magnanelli suspended for the visit of Napoli but with no real injuries to speak of, manager Eusebio Di Francesco has a fully fit squad to choose from. Despite the loss of Simone Zaza to Juventus, Sassuolo have a good starting XI and have managed to retain the services of Domenico Berardi, who is likely to form part of an attacking three including Grégoire Defrel and Nicola Sansone.

New Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, has brought some players with him from former club Empoli and both Mirko Valdifiori and Elseid Hysaj could start this match. Similarly to Sassuolo, Napoli only have one player who is definitely out of the game and that’s Faouzi Ghoulam, who is suspended. New addition Allan, may start the match in midfield.

Possible Line-ups

Sassuolo: 4-3-3 formation: Consigli; Vrsaljko, Cannavaro, Acerbi, Peluso; Biondini, Duncan, Missiroli; Sansone, Berardi, Defrel

Napoli: 4-3-1-2 formation: Reina; Maggio, Chiriches, Albiol, Hysaj; Allan, Hamsik, Valdifiori; Insigne; Higuain, Callejon

  • Sassuolo have won 8 and drawn 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Napoli have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Sassuolo have scored an average of 2.2 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Napoli have scored an average of 2.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.8 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Sassuolo’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of s previous 10 matches
  • Napoli have won the previous 3 fixtures between teams, not conceding a goal in the process

Sassuolo have done well in their previous two Serie A season’s and look to have a team capable of performing again in 2015/16. Although the move of forward Simone Zaza to Juventus is a big loss, Sassuolo have done well in the transfer market themselves and have shown progression during their short time in Serie A, which could potentially see them break in to the top half of the table this season.

Last season ended in disappointing fashion for Napoli and they are now aiming to build again under a new manager, with the departure of Rafa Benitez to Real Madrid. This match could see as many as four or five players making their Serie A debut for Napoli and they will need to slot in to the team immediately, for what’s a tough opening fixture. Once again, it’s Gonzalo Higuain who will be given the task of getting the goals.

This has the makings of being the match of the weekend in Serie A and Napoli will do well to come away with anything more than a point.

We say: 2-2 at 14/1 with Bet365
