Aegon Championships Prediction and Preview

The grass court season is in full swing as many of the world’s top players return to Queen’s Club for the Aegon Championships.

With a line-up featuring Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Stanislas Wawrinka, Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov, this could to be a tough event to win.

Andy Murray, who was struggling with illness following the French Open, has declared himself fit for the tournament. The three time winner will open off against a qualifier but after that, things will get tough, with 2014 champion Grigor Dimitrov, 2012 champion Marin Cilic and 2010 champion Sam Querrey all in Murray’s section of the draw.

The bottom half of the draw features Rafael Nadal and 2015 French Open winner, Stanislas Wawrinka. The last player to win at Queen’s Club after claiming the French Open was Nadal, back in 2008 and it’s unlikely that Wawrinka will repeat the feat this year. A look at the draw sees the Swiss open off against Nick Kyrgios and then a potential meeting with Kevin Anderson, who has good previous form at this tournament.

Milos Raonic finds himself in the top quarter of the bottom section but following injury, the likes of Jeremy Chardy and Richard Gasquet could offer better value. Gasquet made the final at Eastbourne last year and Chardy performed well recently at the French Open.

Having taken many people by surprise in Stuttgart, Rafael Nadal will be entering the Aegon Championships with renewed confidence and energy. This will make the Spaniard a hugely dangerous opponent and with the draw as it is, the world number ten could easily make it through to final. Given Murray’s illness over the course of the French Open, he may not be at his very best and this could open the door for Nadal to claim his second title on grass this season.

We say: Nadal to win outright at 11/2 with Bet365

We say: Gasquet to win quarter at 9/2 with Bet365
