Bayern Munich are likely to revert to a strong starting XI after resting some of the main players against Darmstadt at the weekend. Xabi Alonso and Thiago are likely to return to central midfield with Mario Gotze making way upfront for Robert Lewandowski. Pep Guardiola will hope that his squad rotation will pay off for this top of the table clash.
Wolfsburg’s attacking full back Vierinha is still unavailable with Christian Trasch continuing to fill in. Joshua Guilavogui is likely to retain his spot beside Luis Gustavo, with Maximilian Arnold again having to settle for a spot on the bench. A comfortable 3-0 victory at Darmstadt over the weekend gave the team a chance to rest some of the key players and that could be the difference in this top of the table clash with the majority of Wolfsburg’s team about to play their third game in a week.
Wolfsburg will attempt to keep the ball and frustrate their opponents. Undefeated this season in the league and Champions League Wolfsburg will be thinking back to January when they defeated Bayern 4-1, but Kevin de Bruyne orchestrated that performance, so who will want to take the game by the reigns this time round?
A tough game to predict with plenty of quality on show from both sides in this tie. We have gone for goals, goals, goals with the amount of attacking prowess on show from both sides, it seems unthinkable that either of these teams could not find the back of the net. Bayern maybe more about possession but Wolfsburg will be shoot on side and could edge the corners.
