Premier League preview – Norwich vs Watford prediction.

Norwich central midfielder Jonathan Howson is receiving treatment on a knee injury following Saturday’s match and is out for the remaining two fixtures. Sebastien Bassong’s error cost the Canaries a point but with Timm Klose injured and Ryan Bennett laid low with illness, the French-born centre-back is likely to keep his place. Alex Neil needs to find a solution to Norwich’s goal drought and may consider a change upfront. Steven Naismith and Patrick Bamford are options for Cameron Jerome and Dieumerci Mbokani who have failed to deliver in recent games.

Watford right-back Allan Nyom is pushing for a return after Quique Flores tried Juan Carlos Paredes and Craig Cathcart without any obvious success. Nathan Ake was overlooked at left-back for winger Ikechi Anya against Liverpool but would start if Flores reverts to four at the back. Defensive midfielders Etienne Capoue and Valon Behrami remain sidelined.

Possible Line-ups

Norwich 4-4-1-1 formation: Ruddy; Pinto, Martin, Bassong, Olsson; Redmond, O’Neil, Dorrans, Brady; Hoolahan; Jerome

Watford 4-4-1-1 formation: Gomes; Nyom, Cathcart, Britos, Ake; Abdi, Suarez, Watson, Jurado; Deeney; Ighalo

Norwich vs Watford Prediction

Norwich’s chances of escaping the drop have been gradually fading since losing 3-0 to relegation rivals Sunderland at Carrow Road three weeks ago. The Canaries played well in defeat at Arsenal and at home to Manchester United in two subsequent matches, but the lack of clinical finishing may ultimately cost their place in the top flight. They had opportunities against the Gunners and United but lost both games 1-0 and they have now failed to score in the last four which have all ended in defeat. It appears to be a case of ‘job done’ among the Watford squad who secured their place in the Premier League some time ago. The Hornets have lost three of the last four games and were minutes away from defeat at home to Aston Villa a week past Saturday until captain Troy Deeney scored twice in added time. While Watford lack the threat of early season, Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool was the first time they had failed to score in six matches. Norwich will surely get more opportunities to score as Watford have conceded at least two goals in each of the last four games.
