La Liga preview – Celta Vigo vs Sevilla prediction.

Hugo Mallo and Fabian Orellana are suspended for La Liga clash between Celta Vigo and Sevilla on Sunday. Mallo picked up his fifth yellow of the season against Las Palmas to earn a one-match ban while Orellana will miss three games for seeing red in the same fixture. Iago Aspas is set to spearhead the attack with Claudio Beauvue coming in for John Guidetti who started in the Copa del Rey tie in Sevilla on Thursday. Nolito has returned to training following a hamstring injury and could make the bench on Sunday.

The major concern for Sevilla is midfield mainstay Grzegorz Krychowiak who is out of action with a knee injury and Stevan N’Zonzi is expected to continue in his absence. Vitolo returns from suspension and is expected to oust Antonio Reyes on the right. Ever Banega is in line for his first league start since returning from injury last week.

Possible Line-ups

Celta Vigo 4-2-3-1 formation: Alvarez; Castro, Gomez, Cabral, Planas; Wass, Radoja; Beauvue, Senne, Bongonda; Aspas

Sevilla 4-2-3-1 formation: Rico; Mariano, Rami, Kolodziejczak, Tremoulinas; N’Zonzi, Cristoforo; Vitolo, Beanega, Krohn-Dehli; Gameiro

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Sevilla’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

The form of seventh-placed Celta Vigo has been erratic of late, they won a five-goal thriller in the Copa del Rey at Atletico Madrid last month before losing 2-1 at lowly Las Palmas four days later. Thursday’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Sunday’s opponents Sevilla in the first leg of the cup semi-final will have done little for confidence and the defence has now conceded 11 goals in the last four games. Celta are back in Vigo for the first time since drawing 0-0 with Atletico in the cup where they have lost four of the last seven league games at Estadio de Balaidos.

Sevilla have won eight of the last nine games in all competitions and gained a great psychological advantage when hammering Celta 4-0 in Sevilla on Thursday. However the best of Unai Emery’s team has been witnessed at home in Sevilla and it is still chasing down its first away win in the league this term. They have drawn three of the last four away in La Liga and most recently held Atletico to a goalless draw in Madrid despite being reduced to ten men for most of the second half.

Sevilla can land that elusive away win against an erratic and shell-shocked Celta Vigo side.
