Fernando Torres remains doubtful for Atletico Madrid. The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker picked up an ankle knock in training last week which forced him out of the 3-0 victory at Las Palmas. Antoine Griezmann ensured his team mate wasn’t missed by scoring a brace on Sunday making it five goals in three games in the space of seven days. Atletico have no new injury concerns with Tiago Mendes the only other first team regular undergoing treatment.
Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra was sent off for two yellow cards after coming on as a substitute for Sebastian Cristoforo last Saturday and is suspended for the game in Madrid. Cristoforo was rested from the cup game in midweek and should return to the lineup on Sunday. Nicolas Pareja is getting closer to making his comeback from a knee ligament injury which has kept him out of this season’s campaign while fellow defender Marco Andreolli’s season ended in November when he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
