Lyon rested Maciej Rybus at the weekend, so the left-back is expected to be fully fit for this important match. Head coach Bruno Génésio has the luxury of a fully fit squad to select from. Maxime Gonalons and Mathieu Valbuena will pull the strings in midfield, looking to supply the impressive Nabil Fekir and clinical finisher Alexandre Lacazette in attack.

Roma did not declare Lyon loanee Clement Grenier for the Europa League squad, so he will not be facing his parent club. Antonio Rüdiger saw red against Villarreal, so is banned for this match. Long-term absentee Alessandro Florenzi is the only injured player for the visitors. Edin Dzeko is the obvious danger man for Roma and is looking for his 30th goal of the season in all competitions.

Lyon had been mightily impressive prior to drawing with Bordeaux. Les Gones have notched 25 goals in  their last five matches alone and will offer a constant threat to the visitors. They’ve only kept one clean sheet in the same period though, so are susceptible to letting the odd goal in.

Roma remain second in Serie A despite hitting a bad run of form. Giallorossi will be looking to respond from their first home defeat of the season and have a good record against French teams, losing just one of their last nine matches.

This looks like being a great game with Lacazette and Dzeko going head to head and I wouldn’t be surprised if both players found the net. I’m expecting a few goals and it should be an entertaining contest. The teams look evenly matched and I’m tipping a score draw, which will give Roma the upper hand on away goals.
