Bundesliga preview – Bayern Munich vs Augsburg prediction

Bayern have added more injury news to their existing list of woes. Arjen Robben has picked up an abductor muscle tear which means they are without him as well as Ribery and Benatia. Luckily Robben could return as early as October. Bayern will welcome Jerome Boateng back into the team with open arms after his suspension. Muller has five goals in three Bundesliga games so far this season, adding to their plethora of attacking options up front which includes Costa and Lewandowski.

Augsburg are struggling to score goals in the Bundesliga so far this season and are looking towards Caiuby in order to convert the chances after Raúl Bobadilla has fallen slightly out of favour. They will be happy to have held on to right back Paul Verhaegh – the player who featured in the Bundesliga team of the season for 2014/2015. Two of their new signings; Opare and Trochowski are both injured indefinitely, while left back Abdul Baba has left for Chelsea, a player who started 29 Bundesliga games last season.

Prediction

Alongside Borussia Dortmund, Bayern have made a flawless start to the Bundesliga campaign. With the return of Boateng I doubt they will miss Benatia for the near future, however the absences of both Robben and Ribery will mean that Bayern could lack some penetration going forward. They do however know how to deal with these types of injuries.

Augsburg had a very successful campaign last season finishing fifth and earning a Europa League group stage spot. On the other hand they were the best of a rather average bunch that finished below fourth, and their lack of goals at this stage of the season is an early indication as to where their problems lie.

It’s difficult to see where Bayern will trip up this season, and it surely won’t be in this game. A comfortable win is expected if they can cope with their injuries.

We say: Bayern Munich to win by 3 goals at 10/3 with Bet365
