Bundesliga preview – Borussia M.Gladbach v Schalke 04 prediction

Borussia M.Gladbach have Yann Sommer returning from the facial injury suffered in the Champions League to start in goal. With Tony Jantschke fit again Julian Korb will be looking over his shoulder from right back. Granit Xhaka could be a massive positive for Gladbach and Havard Nordtvelt is likely to have to drop to the bench.

Schalke will start with Junior Caicara at right full back. Leon Goretzka could make way for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in central midfield but on the flank competition is tough as Max Meyer, Leroy Sane and Eric Maxim Choup-Moting compete for two spots. The regular front pairing of Huntelaar and Di Santo should start the game.

Possible Line-ups

Borussia M.Gladbach: 4-4-2 formation: Sommer; Korb, Christensen, Dominguez, Wendt; Traore, Dahoud, Xhaka, Johnson; Raffael, Stindl

Schalke: 4-4-2 formation: Fahrmann; Caicara, Matip, Howedes, Aogo; Sane, Geis, Goretzka, Meyer; Huntelaar, Di Santo

Prediction

Borussia M.Gladbach’s form has dramatically changed since their coach made the decision to step aside. The side have won their last four league games in a row and put up a fight against Juventus in the Champions League holding them to 0-0. Their last league game ended in a 5-1 away victory at Frankfurt and Gladbach have quickly risen to 11th in the table.

Schalke currently sit 3rd in the table and after securing a dramatic victory in the league last week they only managed a point at home to Sparta Prague in the Europa League. Schalke have won their last 3 Bundesliga away games and the hope will be that they can continue the run to put pressure on the Big Two on top of the table.

Both teams are in form here and it is difficult to split these sides. Franco Di Santo will be hoping to build on his goal from the Europa League and find some league form. Should be an exciting game.
