Bundesliga football tips – Hamburg vs Stuttgart prediction

Defender Johan Djourou is a doubt for Hamburg, so Gideon Jung is likely to slot in to the centre of defence. If Jung does drop in to the defence, Marcelo Díaz could come in to the Hamburg midfield. Another change at the back, could see the inclusion of Gotoku Sakai, who is fit again after injury.

Stuttgart are still without goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak but other than that, have a fully fit squad to choose from. Manager Alexander Zorniger may opt to stick with a 4-4-2 formation, which could mean Daniel Didavi playing from a wide midfield position and Martin Harnik forming a two pronged attack with Daniel Ginczek. Serey Dié could make a return to the team following injury.

Possible Line-ups

Hamburg: 4-3-3 formation: Adler; Sakai, Jung, Spahic, Ostrzolek; Diaz, Ekdal, Holtby; Olic; Gregoritsch, Schipplock, Muller

Stuttgart: 4-4-2 formation: Tyton; Klein, Baumgartl, Hlousek, Insua; Gentner, Die, Didavi, Kostic; Harnik, Ginczek

  • Hamburg have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Stuttgart have won 8 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Hamburg have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.4 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Stuttgart have scored an average of 2.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Hamburg’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Stuttgart’s previous 10 matches
  • Stuttgart have won their last 3 matches against Hamburg by a 1 goal margin

Hamburg had the one match everyone wanted to avoid on the opening day of the season, a trip to play Bayern Munich. The result was generally as expected, as Hamburg lost the match 5-0 but it’s still no way to start a new season and they need to pick themselves up quickly. This match, is an opportunity for Hamburg to put in a good performance, in-front of their home fans and build confidence for the rest of the season.

Similarly to Hamburg, Stuttgart starting the season in very disappointing fashion, losing 3-1 at home to Cologne. However, there were more positives in Stuttgart’s performance than Hamburg’s and they were the better team in parts of the game against Cologne. That being said, if you want to have a good season, you need to be winning your home matches and pressure will be building next week, if they fail to get anything from this match.

We say: Draw and both teams to score at 10/3 with Bet365
