Bundesliga football tips – Hertha Berlin vs Werder Bremen prediction

Hertha Berlin have Roy Beerens suspended for this match, so Genki Haraguchi could come in to replace him wide right. New signing Mitchell Weiser has returned to fitness but may have to settle for a place on the bench, as manager Pal Dardai is unlikely to want to make many changes from last weekend.

New signing Ulisses Garcia looks set to continue at full-back for Werder Bremen, as Santiago Garcia is still struggling with injury. Fin Bartels, who played in midfield last weekend is also out and that could mean a starting place for Maximilian Eggestein in support of the strikers.

Possible Line-ups

Hertha Berlin: 4-1-4-1 formation: Kraft; Pekarik, Lustenberger, Langkamp, Plattenhardt; Skjlebred; Darida; Haraguchi, Hegeler, Stocker; Kalou

Werder Bremen: 4-3-1-2 formation: Wiedwald; Gebre Selassie, Lukimya, Vestergaard, Garcia; Bargfrede, Fritz, Junuzovic; Eggestein; Johannsson, Ujah

  • Hertha Berlin have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Werder Bremen have won 6, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Hertha Berlin have scored an average of 1.3 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Werder Bremen have scored an average of 2.2 goals and conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Hertha Berlin’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Werder Bremen’s previous 10 matches
  • Werder Bremen have won 2 and drawn 1 of the last 3 meetings with Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin came away with a great 1-0 victory over Augsburg last weekend and will play in-front of their own fans for the first time this season, with 3 points already in the bag. It took a penalty from Kalou to break the deadlock but that was enough and the striker has 2 goals in 2 competitive games this season.

In contrast, Werder Bremen suffered a disappointing start to their Bundesliga campaign, going down 3-0 at home to Schalke. Although Werder kept things tight for the majority of the first half and were actually on top early on, they were 1-0 down at half-time. Two further goals from Schalke in the second half, meant a comprehensive defeat at home for Werder, who will need to be more clinical with both possession and their chances, if they are to take anything away from their trip to Berlin.

With a number of new players still bedding in, Werder will hope to make improvements in each game and a point here will be welcome after last week.
