Bundesliga preview – Schalke 04 v Eintract Frankfurt prediction

Schalke have club captain Benedikt Howedes available for selection following injury but this game may be 1 week too soon. Junior Caicara is likely to get the nod over Sascha Riether at right back, as Uchida is still out and Max Meyer could keep his left wing role with Leroy Sane to remain on the bench.

Eintracht Frankfurt will start the game with Abraham and Russ in the centre back roles, with Aleksander Ignjovski continuing to deputise for the injured Timothy Chandler at right full back. The front three of Meier, Castaignos and Seferovic that have performed so well at times this season will all want to be on the scoresheet in this one.

Possible Line-ups

Schalke: 4-4-2 formation: Fahrmann; Caicara, Matip, Neustadter Aogo; Choupo-Moting, Goretzka, Geis, Meyer; Huntelaar, Di Santo

Frankfurt: 4-3-1-2 formation: Hradecky; Ignjovski, Abraham, Russ, Oczipka; Hasebe, Reinartz, Stendera; Meier; Seferovic, Castaignos

Prediction

Schalke sit 4th in the Bundesliga after wins over Mainz and Stuttgart. Huntelaar has been in form this season with two goals in the league and two in Europe. Schalke also had an impressive away win in Europe, winning 3-0 at Apoel. Their only defeat this season was at Wolfsburg which plenty of teams will suffer this season so Schalke fans will be happy with the run their side is on.

Frankfurt had recorded 6-2 and 4-1 victories over FC Koln and VfB Stuttgart respectivelybefore Saturday’s frustrating 0-0 stalemate at Hamburg, the only time the team have failed to score in their last 10 games. Frankfurt’s front three will be tough to keep quiet for two games in a row as they are hungry for goals, this will be a good one for the neutral.

We have gone for goals here with the attackers on both sides to get in on the action. Alexander Meier and Hunelaar have been amongst the goals and neither defence will be strong enough to keep a clean sheet in this one.
