Bundesliga football tips – Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction

Wolfsburg start the new Bundesliga season without their first choice keeper Diego Benaglio, who is out injured, therefore Koen Casteels will start in goal. Luiz Gustavo is struggling for full fitness, meaning that Josuha Guilavogui could start in midfield and with the absence of André Schürrle, Max Kruse may drop a little deeper, with Bas Dost leading the line.

Eintracht also have a different man between the sticks for this match, having lost Kevin Trapp to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. New signing Lukas Hradecky, will make his Bundesliga debut in goal. Other new signings, including David Abraham, Stefan Reinartz and Luc Castaignos are also likely to feature, either from the start or the bench.

Possible Line-ups

Wolfsburg: 4-2-3-1 formation: Casteels; Vieirinha, Naldo, Klose, Rodriguez; Guilavogui, Arnold; Perisic, De Bruyne, Kruse; Dost

Eintracht Frankfurt: 4-4-2 formation: Hradecky; Hasebe, Zambrano, Abraham, Oczipka; Aigner, Russ, Reinartz, Inui; Seferovic, Castaignos

  • Wolfsburg have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Eintracht Frankfurt have won 8, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Wolfsburg have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Eintracht Frankfurt have scored an average of 2.5 goals and conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Wolfsburg’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Eintracht Frankfurt’s previous 10 matches
  • Eintracht Frankfurt have failed to defeat Wolfsburg in their previous 5 attempts

Wolfsburg enjoyed a very good 2014/15 season and will be aiming to build on their success this season. Having kept hold of Kevin de Bruyne, at least for the time being, the squad has been strengthened with the signing of Max Kruse and the performance against Bayern Munich in the Super Cup, shows they mean business.

The loss of goalkeeper and captain, Kevin Trapp, was a disappointment during the summer but not unexpected and Eintracht have added a number of new players to their squad for the new season. Any kind of finish in mid-table will be considered a decent season but it’s a difficult looking opening fixture and Eintracht may have to wait, before securing their first points of the new campaign.

Wolfsburg need to keep pace with Bayern Munich from the outset and should do that by winning this opening match.

We say: Wolfsburg to win by 2 goals at 10/3 with Bet365
