Champions League preview – PSG vs Manchester City prediction.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc has confirmed Angel di Maria will play on Wednesday after being rested for the game against Nice. Midfielders Marco Verratti and Javier Pastore are doubtful and right-back Serge Aurier is likely to miss out. Adrien Rabiot is favourite to replace Verratti while Lucas Moura could come in for Edinson Cavani.

Joe Hart is set to return. The Manchester City goalkeeper trained with the squad on Tuesday and came through a full workout with no repercussions on his calf injury. Yaya Toure is struggling with a heel problem while Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany are ruled out with their injuries. Former PSG transfer target Kevin de Bruyne impressed on his return to the side at the weekend and should start despite Manuel Pellegrini saying it’s not guaranteed.

Possible Line-ups

PSG 4-3-3 formation: Trapp; Marquinhos, Silva, Luiz, Maxwell; Rabiot, Motta, Matuidi; di Maria, Ibrahimovic, Moura

Manchester City 4-2-3-1 formation: Hart; Zabaleta, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy; Fernando, Fernandinho; Navas, Silva, de Bruyne; Aguero

Prediction

PSG have the French Ligue 1 title sewn up and have been able to focus solely on the Champions League. Blanc played a near full-strength side for the visit of fourth-placed Nice on Saturday and was pleased to see his team cruise to a 4-1 victory with top striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting a hattrick. PSG eliminated Chelsea in the previous round, winning both legs 2-1 and have kept clean sheets in three of their four home games in this season’s competition.

Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory at Bournemouth at the weekend and are making their first ever appearance in the Champions League quarter-finals. City’s form has been patchy throughout the season but they have won three of four away games in this Champions League campaign while conceding one goal on each occasion.

PSG can expect some nervy moments against City’s flair attackers but have the firepower to break through the Premier League side’s suspect defence.
