Las Palmas centre-back Aythami Artiles will sit this out after being sent off for two yellow cards against Real Betis on Tuesday. David Garcia could move back to his preferred position allowing David Simon to return at right-back. Hernan was used as a substitute for the second time following his return from injury and is pushing for a start. Nabil El Zhar, Jonathon Viera and Roque Mesa were left out as part of Quique Setien’s desire to assess his squad for next season and there may be more experimentation on Friday.

Espanyol centre-back Oscar Duarte is doubtful after being taken off with a calf injury during Tuesday’s match against Celta Vigo. Enzo Roco with 22 starts for the club this season is the most obvious replacement. With Anaitz Arbilla the only other injury, Constantin Galca has a number of players looking for a start including striker Felipe Caicedo, winger Jorge Franco and midfielder Victor Alvarez.

Las Palmas have surely secured another season in La Liga after picking up six wins a six-week spell from late February. Setien has begun to experiment with his squad but might want to make mathematically certain by bringing back some of his regular performers after losing 1-0 at Real Betis on Tuesday. The defeat followed a 1-1 draw at home to Sporting Gijon on Saturday and he risks dropping more points by fielding an under-strength team against Espanyol who have still to make sure of their survival. They were two tough fixtures as Estadio Ciudad de Valencia has not been yielding to visitors this year and Celta Vigo are pushing for a top 6 finish. Espanyol have only won one of the last 15 away but are enjoying their most productive spell on the road this season having picked up five points from the last four away games. Las Palmas look to be resting on their laurels and while their fringe players will be out to impress, this is an opportunity for Espanyol to take a step closer to survival
