La Liga preview – Las Palmas vs Valencia prediction.

Las Palmas midfielders Wakaso Mubarak and Hernan Santana have undergone treatment on minor injuries this week but are expected to fit for the visit of Valencia on Saturday. Wakaso has been a regular on the left since returning from injury in December while Hernan has struggled with a calf injury and has only been given one start in 2016. Centre forward Willian Jose has scored in three of the past four games for Las Palmas and is expected to start ahead of former first-choice striker Sergio Araujo.

Valencia caretaker manager Pako Ayestaran begins without the services of Denis Cheryshev who was instrumental in Los Che’s purple patch in February. The Real Madrid loanee is out with a hamstring injury and needs another week at least. Santi Mina reported back from Spain U-21 duty with a knock and will be assessed nearer to kick off. Sofiane Feghouli is hoping for a return to the starting lineup while Dani Parejo, Joao Cancelo and Enzo Perez must prove their fitness after picking up injuries earlier this month.

Possible Line-ups

Las Palmas 4-1-4-1 formation: Varas; Garcia, Lemos, Artiles, Garrido; Mesa; El Zhar, Tana, Viera, Momo; Willian

Valencia 4-3-3 formation: Ryan; Vezo, Mustafi, Abdennour, Guilherme; Barbosa, Fuego, Gomes; Feghouli, Alcacer, Mina

Statistics

  • Las Palmas have won 5 drawn 0 and lost 5 of their last 10 matches
  • Valencia have won 5 drawn 0 and lost 5 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Las Palmas have scored an average of 1.1 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Valencia have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Las Palmas’ previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Valencia’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Rejuvenated Las Palmas have won four of the last five games to pull five points clear of the relegation places. Quique Setien’s side was denied a draw against Real Madrid in the last home match when Casemiro score the winner for Los Galacticos with one minute remaining. Las Palmas bounced back with a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad last time, their fourth clean sheet in five games.

Valencia crashed out of the Europa League earlier this month and parted company with manager Gary Neville after registering a third successive league defeat at home to Celta Vigo last time. Assistant manager Pako Ayestaran steps up for the rest of the season and it is his job to improve on Valencia’s current position of 14th in the table. Valencia were beaten 1-0 at bottom-of-the-league Levante on their last road trip but had won their two previous away games in Malaga and Granada.

There is only one team to consider on current form but the danger to Las Palmas could come from a change of mood in the Valencia dressing room.
