Premier League League football tips – Bournemouth vs Aston Villa prediction

Bournemouth have to make their Premiership debut without last season’s player of the year, Harry Arter, who is out with a hip injury. There’s a group of signings, all hoping to start the match but full-back Tyrone Mings and forward Max Gradel are the most likely to be in the first XI, with Sylvain Distin and Lee Tomlin on the bench.

Aston Villa have the obvious loss Christian Benteke to cope with, in addition to a number of injuries ahead of this game. Jores Okore, Carles Gil and Jack Grealish are definitely out, with Gabby Agbonlahor and Craig Gardner rated as doubtful. Therefore, there could be Premier League debuts for Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Micah Richards and Jordan Ayew.

Possible Line-ups

Bournemouth: 4-4-2 formation: Boruc; Francis, Elphick, Cook, Mings; Ritchie, Gosling, Surman, Pugh; Wilson, Gradel

Aston Villa: 4-3-3 formation: Guzan; Hutton, Richards, Clark, Amavi; Bacuna, Westwood, Gueye; Ayew, Kozak, Sinclair

  • Bournemouth have won 6, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Aston Villa have won 2, drawn 4 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Bournemouth have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Aston Villa have scored an average of 1.1 goals and conceded an average of 2 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Bournemouth’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Aston Villa’s previous 10 matches
  • The last time these teams met was in the FA Cup in January, Aston Villa won 2-1 at Villa Park

Bournemouth will have been pleased with what the fixture computer dealt them for their first ever Premier League match. Some good business in the transfer market has strengthened the squad, although the majority of last season’s promotion winning team are likely to be given a chance to prove themselves at a higher level. That being said, newcomer Max Gradel will be expected to make things happen for Bournemouth in the final third.

Aston Villa have a number of new players, many of which are likely to feature from the off at Dean Court. It will be interesting to see how the new additions gel as a team and it’s difficult to predict, exactly how Aston Villa are going to perform.

With the home crowd sure to be in good form, Bournemouth will be fired up and ready to perform, making it a tricky first game of the season for Tim Sherwood.
