Premier League football tips – Southampton vs Everton prediction

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, will have to wait for a further 2 to 3 weeks, before summer signing Jordy Clasie, is available for selection. Ryan Bertrand is making progress but remains doubtful and Steven Caulker is out with a sinus infection.

Roberto Martinez, still has a number of injuries to deal with in his Everton squad. Leighton Baines will be out for some time and joins Aiden McGeady, Darron Gibson, Tony Hibbert and Steven Pienaar on the sidelines. The good news is, both Muhamed Besic and Gerard Deulofeu could be available.

Everton: 4-2-3-1 formation: Howard; Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Galloway; Barry, McCarthy; Cleverley, Barkley, Naismith; Lukaku

  • Everton have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Southampton have scored an average of 2.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Everton have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Southampton’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Everton’s previous 10 matches
  • Southampton are undefeated at home against Everton in their previous 6 matches

Having both drawn their opening games 2-2, there were aspects both teams will be looking to improve on in this match. However, having made the trip to Newcastle, Southampton will be the happier of the two teams going in to this match. That being said, neither team can afford to drop more points, if they want to keep ground with those at the top end of the Premier League table.

Southampton will be hoping to match their performance against Everton from last season, where they triumphed 3-0 at St Mary’s and this has the makings of an attacking, exciting game of football. Martinez knows, that if Everton come away from this match with nothing, early season pressure will start to build, with games against Manchester City, Spurs and Chelsea to come.

Both teams looked less than convincing at the back last week and there could be a few goals but Southampton have the edge.

We say: Southampton to win and both teams to score at 7/2 with Bet365
