Premier League preview – Swansea vs Everton prediction

Swansea manager Gary Monk has his full squad available and is unlikely to make many changes from last week’s 1-0 defeat at Watford.

Everton on the other hand have a host of long term injuries including Leighton Baines, Tom Cleverley, Stephen Peinar and Darren Gibson while two less noteable absuntees are Tony Hibert and Bryan Oviedo. Mohamed Besic is a doubt after picking up a knock against Chelsea and will likely be replaced by Stephen Naismith who scored a hat-trick when he was substituted for Besic.

Possible Line-ups

Swansea: 4-2-3-1 formation: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor; Cork, Shelvey; Montero, Sigurdsson, Ayew; Gomis

Everton: 4-3-1-2 formation: Howard; Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Galloway; McCarthy, Barry; Naismith; Barkley; Kone, Lukaku

Statistics

  • Swansea have won 4, drawn 5 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Everton have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Swanseahave scored an average of 1.4 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Everton have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Swansea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Everton’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Swansea have had a typically bright start to the season, two wins and two draws before the international break before suffering a 1-0 defeat at Watford last weekend. Andre Ayew has been labled the signing of the summer by many onlookers after they picked him up on a free from Olympique de Marseille, and the Ghanian has struck up a dangerous partnership with Bafetimbi Gomis.

That duo could look to take advantage of an Everton defence that leaked 50 goals last year, although Phil Jagielka and John Stones have been in fine form after the latter’s move to Chelsea fell through.

There is certainly no shortage of goal scorers in either team, as Romelu Lukaku, Arouna Kone, Ross Barkley and Naismith have 11 between them for the Toffies and Gomis, Ayew and Gylfi Sigurdsson are all accomplished finnishers for Swansea.
