Manchester United travel to face Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday. Read the match predictions to find out why Man Utd are the betting tip to win at the Liberty Stadium. Swansea were unconvincing in a 3-1 defeat away to Stoke on Monday night while Man Utd did everything but score in a 0-0 draw against Burnley before going down 2-1 away to Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

Swansea City vs Manchester United Preview

Swansea are still without winger Nathan Dyer, so Wayne Routledge is expected to continue on the wing after getting the consolation goal against Stoke. Jefferson Montero and Kyle Naughton are both doubtful, with Angel Rangel likely to come in at right-back for the latter.

Man Utd are without Ander Herrera after his red card in the draw with Burnley. Paul Pogba is dountful after coming off injured in Turkey, so it could be Fellaini and Carrick in the middle. Juan Mata seems to be ahead of Wayne Rooney and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the pecking order for the number 10 role.

Team Predictions Swansea City vs Manchester United

Swansea 4-2-3-1 formation: Fabianski; Kingsley, Mawson, Hoorn, Rangel; Sung-yueng, Fer; Routledge, Sigurdsson, Barrow; Llorente

Brighton 4-2-3-1 formation: de Gea; Shaw, Rojo, Blind, Darmian; Carrick, Fellaini; martial, Mata, Rashford; Ibrahimovic

Swansea City vs Manchester United Betting Tips

  • Swansea have won 1 drawn 2 and lost 7 of their last 10 matches
  • Man Utd have won 5 drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Swansea have scored an average of 1.2 goals and conceded an average of 1.9 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Man Utd have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.0 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Swansea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Man Utd’s previous 10 matches

Swansea City vs Manchester United Prediction

Swansea are in dire straits at the moment with no win in 9 matches. They made a game of it when going down 3-2 away to Arsenal but looked fresh out of ideas in a 0-0 draw at home to Watford. Having their former players score the goals for Stoke on Monday will have added salt to the wound and the Swans look to be there for the taking.

Man Utd bounced back from a horror show at Chelsea to knock Manchester City out of the EFL Cup after a 1-0 win. The Red Devils fashioned and wasted a hatful of chances against Burnley and must be wondering how they failed to score in that match. Some world-class finishing put them to the sword in the loss to Fenerbahce and this looks the ideal opportunity to get back in the winning groove.

There has been over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 8 meetings between these sides. Swansea have lost 5 of their last 6 and Manchester United will be desperate to recover some form here. I’m tipping United to pile more misery on the hosts here but expect Swansea to make them work for the win.

Premier League preview – Swansea vs Manchester United prediction

Swansea have always been a possession based side, looking to dominate the ball and play their way around opponents.  They possess a very underrated and solid squad with some highly talented players who are being commanded by an underrated and passionate manager in Gary Monk, who was playing for the team only a few years ago.  With the addition of ex-Marseille forward Andre Ayew to compliment Montero and Gomis, who has taken the candle from now Man City forward Wilfried Bony, they have been very impressive this season and remain unbeaten so far.  Which is particularly impressive, bearing in mind their first game of the season was away at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have not conceded a goal so far this season, with Chris Smalling and Daley Blind forming a well working partnership at the centre of defence, Darmian solving the long considered Right back problem and Luke Shaw dramatically improved on his first season at Old Trafford.  Sergio Romero is proving capable in filling the gap from the inevitable departure of De Gea to Real Madrid, they have however struggled to score goals, winning their first two games 1-0 and drawing the third 0-0.  This has however, given them 7 points so far and like their opponents, they remain unbeaten and after Rooney finally opened his account for the season with a hattrick away at Club Brugge in midweek, they will be confident heading into this game.

Possible Line-ups

Swansea:4-2-3-1 formation: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor; Shelvey, Ki; Ayew, Montero, Siggurdson; Gomis

Manchester United: 4-2-3-1 formation: Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Schneiderlin; Mata, Janujaz, Memphis; Rooney

  • Swansea have won 3, drawn 6 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Manchester United have won 7, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Swansea have scored an average of 1.3 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester United have scored an average of 1.6 goals and conceded an average of 0.5 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Swansea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Manchester United’s previous 10 matches

Premier League football tips – Swansea vs Manchester United prediction

It is now just 1 defeat in 19 games for Manchester United and although it may not be pretty to watch, Louis van Gaal and his team are getting the job done. Many people say that the sign of a good team is winning when the performance level is below par and Manchester United are certainly doing that at the moment. A total of 5 draws and 13 wins, along with the single defeat, highlight how Man Utd are finding ways to get across the line in games.

On the other hand, Swansea City have won just once in their 6 games in all competitions and the loss of Wilfried Bony may see them revise their expectations for the end of the season. Gary Monk’s team have failed to win any of their last 3 home matches and would have been disappointed to only pick up a point against Sunderland, in their last home game.

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Swansea have scored an average of 1.3 goals and conceded an average of 1.9 goals per game.
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester United have scored an average of 1.8 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Swansea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Manchester United’s previous 10 matches.
  • Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 3 visits to the Liberty Stadium, winning 1 and drawing 2.

This match, as has been the case with many Manchester United’s games this season, has the makings of being a very closely fought encounter. Despite the fact that Manchester United’s defence has looked poor during games, they have only conceded an average of 0.6 goals over the course of their last 10 games. This means that Swansea, who have been struggling to score more than 1 goal per game, will have to keep United out for the entire 90 minutes to win and no team has managed that in any of Man Utd’s last 5 games.

An interesting fact, is that Manchester United have gone in level at half-time 7 times in their last 8 Premier League away games.
