Premier League football tips – Watford vs West Brom prediction

Watford manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, is unlikely to make any major changes to his team, following a good result at Everton last weekend. However, after coming off the bench to impress, Odion Ighalo could land a starting place up-front but both Giedrius Arlauskis and Miguel Britos are still suspended.

West Brom have two new additions to their squad for this game but both Serge Gnabry and Salomon Rondon may have to settle for a place on the bench. Gareth McAuley could return to the defence, if fit after injury but goalkeeper Ben Foster is still definitely out.

Possible Line-ups

Watford: 4-4-2 formation: Gomes; Nyom, Cathcart, Prodl, Holebas; Behrami, Layun, Capoue, Anya; Deeney, Ighalo

West Bromwich Albion: 4-4-2 formation: Myhill; Lescott, McAuley, Chester, Dawson; Brunt, Morrison, Fletcher, Gardner; Lambert, Berahino

  • Watford have won 5, Drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • West Brom have won 6 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Watford have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, West Brom have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Watford’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 9 of West Brom’s previous 10 matches
  • The last time these teams met at Vicarage Road was in 2010 in the Championship and it finished 1-1

Watford enjoyed a good start to their Premier League campaign last week at Goodison and will be hoping to build on that point with their first win of the season against West Brom. A number of new signings performed well and they seemed to working together nicely as a team. However, these are the games that Watford will be thinking they need to win, if they want to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

It was a disappointing start to the new season for West Brom, which led manager Tony Pulis to admit he got it wrong in their 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City. The club have acted in the transfer market following that loss and have spent big on striker Salomon Rondon. It’s unusual for a Pulis team to be so open but West Brom have been involved in 9 games featuring over 2.5 goals or more in their last 10 outings and he will want to tighten things up against Watford.
