Manchester City travel to face West Brom in the Premier League this Saturday. Read the match predictions to find out why Man City are the betting tip to get 3 points at the Hawthorns. This match comes hot on the heels of a disappointing EFL Cup exit for Man City who will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways.
West Brom vs Manchester City Preview
West Brom have dropped to 13th in the standings after a 2-1 defeat away at Liverpool last weekend. They sit 10 points behind Man City who hold onto top spot by virtue of goal difference following a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton. However, the visitors arrive having succumbed to a 1-0 cup defeat against city rivals Manchester United during the week.
Claudio Yacob is suspended for the hosts after receiving a fifth yellow card of the campaign. Tony Pulis can welcome back Jonny Evans but there are doubts over the fitness of both James McLean and Saido Berahino.
Man City could be without Vincent Kompany after he was withdrawn at half-time in the loss to Man Utd. Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are both struggling with injuries, so Pep Guardiola may play Pablo Maffeo once more on Saturday following his impressive display in the derby. Kevin de Bruyne is a doubt but Sergio Aguero will add a potent goal threat up-front and cause problems for the defence as he did in this fixture last season (see video above).

West Brom vs Manchester City Prediction
West Brom have gone 4 games without a win now, with their latest defeat preceded by a trio of 1-1 draws against Stoke, Sunderland and Spurs respectively. The Baggies were 2 down before half-time at Liverpool and never really looked like getting anything out of the game.
After a terrific start to the season, Man City have started to struggle for form. They were hammered 4-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League and needed to fight back to draw 1-1 at home to Southampton before losing to Man Utd.
Even though the visitors have not won in 6 matches, they still sit top of the table. West Brom will look to make this tricky for them but the Midlands outfit have only won twice this season. City have prevailed the last 6 times these teams have met and with a number of key players rested in the week, a full strength side should get the job done to make that 7.

Premier League League football tips – West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester City prediction
West Brom are without England international goalkeeper Ben Foster, who is out injured and Boaz Myhill is likely to take his place in the West Brom XI. The only other worry for Tony Pulis is Gareth McAuley, who picked up an injury in a friendly match but should be OK to start. There could be debuts for James Chester, Rickie Lambert and James McClean.
Man City are definitely without Martin Demichelis and Pablo Zabaleta, who have been given extra time off, following the Copa America. It was thought Sergio Aguero would also be missing for the same reason but if the striker recovers from illness, he will start. Manuel Pellegrini should also be able to call upon David Silva and Samir Nasri, plus Raheem Sterling should make his Premier League debut for the club.
Possible Line-ups
West Bromwich Albion: 4-4-2 formation: Myhill; Lescott, McAuley, Chester, Dawson; Brunt, Morrison, Fletcher, Gardner; Lambert, Berahino
Manchester City: 4-2-3-1 formation: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov; Toure, Fernandinho; Silva, Navas, Sterling; Aguero
- West Bromwich Albion have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
- Manchester City have won 7, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
- Over the course of their previous 10 matches, West Bromwich Albion have scored an average of 2.1 goals and conceded an average of 1.4 goals per game
- Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester City have scored an average of 2.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of West Bromwich Albion’s previous 10 matches
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Manchester City’s previous 10 matches
- Manchester City have won each of the last 7 matches against West Bromwich Albion
West Brom finished the 2014/15 Premier League season in good form and will hope to bring that in to the first match of this season. Three new signings should make their Premier League debut for the club, keeping the team fresh and with Lambert and Berahino up-front, West Brom should pose a threat in attack.
Considering the other results on the opening weekend of the season, this has to be seen as a real chance for Manchester City to get themselves in-front of both Chelsea and Arsenal. With the addition of Raheem Sterling in attack and the likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero joining him, Man City have more than enough to trouble the West Brom defence.
Taking in to account the stature of the two teams and Man City’s recent record over West Brom, everything seems to point to an away win. However, the opening weekend of the Premier League has seen some shocks and if Man City are not at 100%, West Brom could punish them.
