Premier League League football tips – West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester City prediction

West Brom are without England international goalkeeper Ben Foster, who is out injured and Boaz Myhill is likely to take his place in the West Brom XI. The only other worry for Tony Pulis is Gareth McAuley, who picked up an injury in a friendly match but should be OK to start. There could be debuts for James Chester, Rickie Lambert and James McClean.

Man City are definitely without Martin Demichelis and Pablo Zabaleta, who have been given extra time off, following the Copa America. It was thought Sergio Aguero would also be missing for the same reason but if the striker recovers from illness, he will start. Manuel Pellegrini should also be able to call upon David Silva and Samir Nasri, plus Raheem Sterling should make his Premier League debut for the club.

Possible Line-ups

West Bromwich Albion: 4-4-2 formation: Myhill; Lescott, McAuley, Chester, Dawson; Brunt, Morrison, Fletcher, Gardner; Lambert, Berahino

Manchester City: 4-2-3-1 formation: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov; Toure, Fernandinho; Silva, Navas, Sterling; Aguero

  • West Bromwich Albion have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Manchester City have won 7, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, West Bromwich Albion have scored an average of 2.1 goals and conceded an average of 1.4 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester City have scored an average of 2.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of West Bromwich Albion’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Manchester City’s previous 10 matches
  • Manchester City have won each of the last 7 matches against West Bromwich Albion

West Brom finished the 2014/15 Premier League season in good form and will hope to bring that in to the first match of this season. Three new signings should make their Premier League debut for the club, keeping the team fresh and with Lambert and Berahino up-front, West Brom should pose a threat in attack.

Considering the other results on the opening weekend of the season, this has to be seen as a real chance for Manchester City to get themselves in-front of both Chelsea and Arsenal. With the addition of Raheem Sterling in attack and the likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero joining him, Man City have more than enough to trouble the West Brom defence.

Taking in to account the stature of the two teams and Man City’s recent record over West Brom, everything seems to point to an away win. However, the opening weekend of the Premier League has seen some shocks and if Man City are not at 100%, West Brom could punish them.

We say: Draw and both teams to score at 15/4 Bet365
