Serie A preview – Juventus vs Inter Milan prediction.

Juventus coach Max Allegri will make changes to the team that drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday. One is forced after Claudio Marchisio picked up a thigh injury and he is expected to be replaced in midfield by Anderson Hernanes. Juan Cuadrado could be sacrificed as Giorgio Chiellini is set to return with Juve reverting to 3 central defenders. Alex Sandro is also ready to make his comeback at left back. Kwadwo Asamoah is close to recovery from a hamstring strain leaving Martin Caceres, who has suffered cruciate ligament damage, the only long-term absentee.

Inter have been successful in their bid to have Geoffrey Kondogbia’s ban reduced and the French midfielder is expected to start on Sunday. Roberto Mancini’s squad has a clean bill of health but will be without Marcelo Brozovic who is suspended for one match. Eder is still looking for his first goal since moving from Sampdoria but is expected to continue his partnership with Mauro Icardi, leaving Jonathan Biabiany, Adem Ljajic and Ivan Peresic competing for a wide berth.

Possible Line-ups

Juventus 3-5-2 formation: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Hernanes, Khedira, Pogba, Sandro; Mandzukic, Dybala

Inter Milan 4-3-3 formation: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Murillo, Miranda, Telles; Kondogbia, Medel, Melo; Eder, Icardi, Biabiany

Prediction

Juventus came from two goals behind to earn a draw against Bayern Munich in midweek which came on the back of a 0-0 draw in Bologna last weekend. Friday night’s goalless draw ended a run of 13 consecutive victories for Juve which included a 3-0 win against Inter when they met in the Coppa Italia in Turin last month. Juventus have kept clean sheets in each of the last seven Serie A games.

Inter allowed relegation-threatened Sampdoria most of the possession while running out comfortable 3-1 winners in Milan on Saturday. It was only Inter’s second win in eight league games and their form since returning from the winter break is akin to a mid-table side, having won 3 drawn 3 and lost 3. Mancini’s side has picked up two points from the last four away games in which they have conceded nine times.

Juventus are back to full strength and look set for a return to winning ways which would take them four points clear at the top of Serie A with Napoli playing on Monday.
