Serie A preview – Juventus vs Napoli prediction.

Max Allegri may risk 21-year-old centre-back Daniele Rugani following the injury to Georgio Chiellini at Frosinone on Sunday. With Martin Caceres out of the Juventus side for the rest of the season, Allegri has the option to play Stephan Lichsteiner out of position or consider a change in formation. Patrice Evra has been down with flu and Alex Sandro is expected to continue at left back. Simone Zaza returns from suspension and is likely to start on the bench with Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala preferred up front.

Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri has no injury concerns but may consider a change to the team that beat Carpi 1-0 on Sunday. Brazilian midfielder Jorginho returns from a one-match suspension and competes with January signing Mirko Valdifiori for a place in the starting eleven on Saturday. Gonzalo Higuain struck the decisive second goal in Napoli’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture and Serie A’s leading scorer is bidding to hit the target in his seventh consecutive league game.

Possible Line-ups

Juventus 3-5-2 formation: Buffon; Rugani, Bonucci, Barzagli; Cuadrado, Sturaro, Marchisio, Pogba, Sandro; Dybala, Morata

Napoli 4-3-3 formation: Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Valdifiori, Hamsik; Callejon, Higuain, Insigne

Prediction

Juventus’ chances of retaining the title looked slim after registering one win in the first six games of the season. But, after a hit-and-miss run in October, Allegri’s side has strung together 14 consecutive victories in Serie A and will go top of the league if defeating Napoli this weekend. Juventus have only scored 18 of their 45 league goals at home as visitors tend to shut up shop against the reigning champions. Juve have the best defence in the league, conceding 15 goals and have not conceded in the last seven games in all competitions.

Napoli top Serie A by two points and are the league’s highest scorers with 53 goals in 24 games, 8 more than Juventus. Sarri’s side has won its last four away games in which it has scored 14 times. It should be noted, this is Napoli’s first visit to a top five club this season and they have dropped points at Bologna, Genoa, Carpi, Empoli and Sassuolo so far.

Juventus look an unstoppable force despite Napoli’s great attacking threat.
