Bundesliga preview – Borussia Dortmund v Augsburg prediction

Borussia Dortmund will start with Sokratis is defence but Subotic may come in following the Champions League midweek. The only slight injury concern is Marcel Schmelzer who will return from injury. Jonas Hofmann and Adnan Januzaj provide the flair from the bench to change it up with Ramos available to replace Aubameyang should Thomas Tuchel feel his side need more threat.

Augsburg should have Paul Verhaegh fit after foot injury however Daniel Opare can step in if he does not make it. Dominik Kohr may get the nod over Ja-Cheol Koo due to his more defensive style as Augsburg will want to try and get a foothold in the game from central midfield. Tobias Werner will take up his role on the left wing and should provide an outlet.

Prediction

Dortmund currently sit 2nd in the Bundesliga but already 7 points behind leaders Bayern Munich. A long trip to Qabala in the Europa League is not ideal preparation for Augsburg, but a home league tie will give some relief. Dortmund are unbeaten at home in the league and have Aubameyang in red hot form with Reus looking stronger with each game that goes by.

Augsburg are without a win in 4 Bundesliga games and are currently rock bottom of the table. The Europa League may be beginning to take its toll on the side with a small squad their league form has been nothing like what it was last season. A trip to Dortmund will do little to give the team any confidence that things are about to get any better.

Dortmund at home are one of the best teams to watch in Europe and with Aubameyang in the starting XI goals are guaranteed. Augsburg are unlikely to put up much resistance and this should be a comfortable victory.
