Champions League preview – Real Madrid vs Manchester City prediction.

Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to be fit to play for Real Madrid in the second leg after receiving stem cell treatment to accelerate his recovery from a thigh injury. Karim Benzema lasted 45 minutes of the first leg in Manchester and there are doubts whether his hamstring injury will heal in time for Wednesday’s decider. Borja Mayoral returned from injury to start at centre forward on Saturday but it is more likely that Jese will deputise for Benzema if needed.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva is ruled out after being withdrawn during the first half of the first leg with a hamstring injury. Kelechi Iheanacho came on as substitute on that occasion and with doubts surrounding Yaya Toure’s fitness, the 19-year-old forward could be risked ahead of wideman, Raheem Sterling. Manuel Pellegrini rested Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne at the weekend and the star trio will start in the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Prediction

Real Madrid played it safe in the first leg and it wasn’t until the second half that they showed genuine attacking intent. It was the third time Real Madrid had failed to score away from home in this season’s competition but have always found the required response back at the Bernabeu - defeating PSG 1-0 after a 0-0 draw in Paris and winning 3-0 after a 2-0 defeat first leg defeat at Wolfsburg. Zidane’s side has won all five home games in this season’s competition, scoring 18 goals without reply. Juventus are the only side to have beaten Manchester City in this Champions League campaign and Pellegrini’s men have probably been more convincing on the road in Europe than at home. They have scored 10 goals in their five away games, defeating Borussia Monchengladbach, Sevilla and Dynamo Kiev before getting a 2-2 draw at PSG in the quarter-final. This should be a more open game than the first leg with Real Madrid going for the win which is the expected result if Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
