Sion v Liverpool Prediction and Preview – 10/12/15
Europa League preview – Sion v Liverpool prediction
Sion midfielder Birama Ndoye is suspended and leading scorer Moussa Konate is missing through injury. Gregory Karlen is not available to provide cover up front and first team regulars Martin Zema and Vero Salatic are also absent with injuries.
Daniel Sturridge’s return to action was short lived and the injury prone Liverpool striker is back on the treatment table with a hamstring problem that will keep him out for a further six weeks. Jordan Ibe is reported to be suffering an illness and Philippe Coutinho is another who won’t make the trip to Switzerland as he concentrates on a Premier League return on Sunday. Jordan Henderson is in line for his first start since coming back from injury while Divock Origi played his way into contention with a hattrick in the League Cup game at Southampton last week

Prediction
Sion goalkeeper Andre Vennins pulled off a couple of top drawer saves to deny Liverpool when the sides drew 1-1 on Merseyside at the beginning of October which was one of the few Autumn highlights for the Swiss club who have only won three games since. They come into the game on the back of three successive defeats and, having made the early running in Group B, Didier Tholot’s side could crash out of the competition if they lose on Thursday.
A point will be enough for Liverpool to secure top spot but Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a bigger response to his side’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle on Sunday. It was an uncharacteristic performance from the team that had won its previous four games and it’s not in the manager’s DNA to target a draw. Having found a winning formula, Klopp’s men have won seven and lost two of the last nine competitive games.
Liverpool have a number of players with a point to prove and have what it takes to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat with a return to winning ways in Switzerland.
