Wimbledon Predictions | Ladies Fourth Round Preview
Wimbledon Predictions | Ladies Fourth Round
Possibly the pick of the fourth round, sees sisters Serena and Venus Williams come head-to-head at Wimbledon for the sixth time. Serena is leading Venus by three wins to two and is favourite to stretch that lead further this year.
Serena seemed to struggle at times in her closely fought win over Heather Watson in the third round but should have had enough time to recover from a physical and emotional match. Despite being on the brink of elimination, Serena showed the mark of a true champion by battling back, against her opponent and the crowd, to win the match.
Venus Williams put in a tremendous performance against Aleksandra Krunic in the previous round. Venus won 85% of her first serve points and 72% of her net points and appears to be in much better form than her sister. However, as Serena showed in her match against Watson, you can never write her off and she is world number one for a good reason.
Garbine Muguruza, the conqueror of Angelique Kerber, comes up against Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round. Muguruza performed superbly in the deciding set against Kerber, hitting a number of winners and makes the second week of her third Grand Slam this year. Wozniacki came through comfortably against Camila Giorgi in the third round and will face a much stiffer challenge in this match. It’s difficult to predict an outcome here, as this has the potential to go either way but at 6/4 with Bet365, Muguruza presents the better value.
Elsewhere, number 13 seed Agnieszka Radwanska takes on the number 28 seed Jelena Jankovic. Radwanska has been enjoying the grass court swing and reaches the fourth round at Wimbledon without dropping a set. Jankovic had a fantastic win against the defending champion Petra Kvitova in the previous round and is in the fourth round for the first time since 2010. It was a great win for Jankovic, who showed a lot of emotion at the end of the match, the question is, does she have enough left in the tank to win this one?
