Bundesliga preview – Dortmund vs Hertha Berlin prediction

Borussia Dortmund will be waiting on the fitness of full-back Lukasz Piszczek, if the Polish international doesn’t make it then Matthias Ginter will probably slot in on the right side of defence. Nuri Sahin, Erik Durm and Oliver Kirch are still injured and Sokratis and Neven Subotic will compete for a place alongside Mats Hummels in the centre of defence.

Hertha Berlin have at least four players missing with injury for the trip to Dortmund. Jens Hegeler, Anis Ben-Hatira, Sami Allagui and Julian Schieber are all likely to miss out. John Brooks could come in to the team at centre-back and that could mean a switch in to midfield for Fabian Lustenberger. Roy Beerens returns from suspension and should play in midfield.

Possible Line-ups

Dortmund: 4-1-4-1 formation: Burki; Ginter, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Weigl; Gundogan, Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, Reus; Aubameyang

Hertha Berlin: 4-2-3-1 formation: Kraft; Plattenhardt, Langkamp, Brooks, Pekarik; Skjelbred, Lustenberger; Berens, Darida, Stocker; Kalou

  • Dortmund have won 10 of their last 10 matches
  • Hertha Berlin have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Dortmund have scored an average of 3.5 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Hertha Berlin have scored an average of 1.3 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Dortmund’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Hertha Berlin’s previous 10 matches
  • There has not been a draw between the teams in their previous 6 matches

Borussia Dortmund have made a very encouraging start to the new season and this continued in mid-week, when they dismantled Odd in the Europa League play-off. The goals have been flying in once more and Dortmund have scored at least 4 in each of the last four competitive matches. Furthermore, they have yet to concede a goal in their two Bundesliga matches to date and their best form seems to be returning.

Hertha Berlin have also done well defensively at the start of the season, conceding just 1 goal in their first two matches. However, they have only managed to score 2 goals themselves and if that record is to continue, they will have to keep out a currently rampant Dortmund attack.

It’s difficult to see anything but a Dortmund win in this one. If they manage to find the back of the net, which they have been freely, it’s unlikely Hertha will have enough going forward to score at least 2 goals in order to win the match.

We say: Dortmund to win and over 3.5 goals at 13/10 with Bet365
