Europa League – Dortmund v Odd Prediction

The Dortmund squad is not short of top quality players; however Thomas Tuchel is still likely to opt for his regulars in this tie. The magic quartet of Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Reus and Aubameyang should all take to the field in order to ensure last week’s initial panic is not recreated. Gundogan and Bender may line up behind the front four, adding a steeliness to the midfield that will operate in front of seasoned professionals, Hummels and Subotic.

Odd will likely field the same eleven that were leading Dortmund 3-0 at one point last week. At least two goals are required from the Norwegian outfit, expect the likes of Bentley, Zekhnini and Occean to pester the Dortmund defence and constantly look to run in behind the centre halves.

Possible Line-ups

Dortmund: 4-2-3-1 Formation: Weidenfeller; Ginter, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer; Gundogan, Bender, Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Reus; Aubameyang

Odd: 4-3-3 Formation: Rossbach; Ruud, Bergan, Hagen, Grogaard; Samuelson, Jensen, Nordkvelle; Bentley, Zekhnini, Occean

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Odd have scored an average of 2.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Dortmund’s previous 10 matches.

Six competitive matches, six wins and eighteen goals scored. Life is looking rosy for fans of the German giants; Thomas Tuchel has breathed new life in to the club who struggled terribly at times last season. They will look to start strong early, eradicating any faint hopes their opponent may have of an upset.

Odd will have gone in at full time after last week’s match feeling sick, not only did they throw away a great opportunity to secure passage into the group stages of the Europa League but also the scalp of a European powerhouse. Their best hope is to apply high pressure, run at the full backs and hope for a massive slice of luck.

Dortmund will win this with ease. Expect them to get an early goal and do not be surprised to see the main man, Marco Reus, do the deed.

We say: Reus to score first 1 – 20 minutes at 6/1 with Bet365
