Bundesliga preview –Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia M.Gladbach prediction

Frankfurt have David Abraham deputising for Carlos Zambrano who is expected to return late from international duty. Timothy Chandler is available for selection but Aleksander Ignjovski should retain his spot in the XI this weekend. Haris Seferovic returns from injury allowing Alexander Meier to play in his preferred Number 10 position to control the attack.

Borussia M.Gladbach have Yann Sommer returning from the facial injury suffered in the Champions League to start in goal. With Tony Jantschke fit again Julian Korb will be looking over his shoulder from right back. Granit Xhaka could be a massive miss for Gladbach and Havard Nordtvelt is likely to come in.

Possible Line-ups

Frankfurt: 4-3-1-2 formation: Hradecky; Ignjovski, Abraham, Russ, Oczipka; Aigner, Reinartz, Stendera; Meier; Seferovic, Castaignos

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in:

  • 5 of Frankfurt’s previous 10 matches
  • 7 of Borussia M.Gladbach’s previous 10 matches

Frankfurt won 3-1 away and 0-0 at home in the fixtures between these sides last season.

Prediction

Frankfurt sit 12th in the table currently but are without a win in four, possibly down to a fixture list forcing them to play three of their last four away from home. At home Frankfurt are a different beast, undefeated this season scoring 9 while only conceding 4. You can certainly expect goals in this one and expect Frankfurt’s attackers to get back on the score sheet.

Borussia M.Gladbach’s form has dramatically changed since their coach made the decision to step aside. The side have won their last three league games in a row and put up a fight against Manchester City in the Champions League. With more Champions League football to come next week will the players have their mind fully focused on this fixture?

In this fixture expect both teams to find the net. Luc Castaignos will be itching to get a goal so a brace would be no surprise. Frankfurt to win with Leverkusen perhaps thinking ahead to the Champions League.
