Champions League preview – Borussia M.Gladbach vs Juventus prediction

Borussia M.Gladbach are still without a number of players for this Champions League game. Patrick Herrmann, Nico Schulz, Martin Stranzl and Andre Hahn are all out injured. Manager Andre Schubert may also be without Tony Jantschke and Marvin Schulz, who are both rated as doubtful.

Juventus are without central midfielder Sami Khedira, who was injured at the weekend. This will come as a blow to Max Allegri, as the German international has been doing well since his return to fitness. Stephan Lichtsteiner is recovering from his injury and may be fit enough for a place on the bench but it’s doubtful he will start the game.

Possible Line-ups

Borussia M.Gladbach: 4-4-2 formation: Sommer; Korb, Christensen, Dominguez, Wendt; Traore, Dahoud, Xhaka, Johnson; Raffael, Stindl

Juventus: 4-3-3 formation: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Hernanes, Pogba, Marchisio; Cuadrado, Mandzukic, Morata

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Borussia M.Gladbach’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Juventus’ previous 10 matches

Prediction

Borussia M.Gladbach have really turned their season around, after a very disappointing start. They are undefeated in their last six games in all competitions and currently sit 5th in the Bundesliga, following an excellent 4-1 win at Hertha Berlin on the weekend. Having begun their Champions League campaign with two defeats, the point gained at Juventus a couple of weeks ago, will give Gladbach the confidence they can take maximum points off the Italian’s at home.

Juventus secured a huge win over local rivals Torino at the weekend, thanks to a last minute goal from Juan Cuadrado. However, Juventus are still very inconsistent and have won only two of their last five games in all competitions. That being said, Max Allegri’s team sit top of Champions League Group D after three games and despite drawing at home to Gladbach last time out, will feel another point here can edge them closer to qualification.

Borussia M.Gladbach will confident of taking maximum points but may have to settle for one.
