Europa League preview – Liverpool vs Rubin Kazan prediction

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp still has a number of players out injured for this Europa League Group B match. With Christian Benteke and Danny Ings out injured, Divok Origi should start again up-front. However, Klopp may make a few changes in the midfield area, to give the likes of Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe chance to impress.

Rubin Kazan are a team who do not score many goals and will probably arrive at Anfield in a defensive frame of mind. The captain and right-back Oleg Kuzmin is a player to look for, he scored two goals at the weekend and also netted for Russia in their recent match against Montenegro.

Possible Line-ups

Liverpool: 4-2-3-1 formation: Mignolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno; Can, Allen; Milner, Ibe, Lallana; Origi

Prediction

It was an interesting start to life under Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool on the weekend. They started the game well but didn’t really create any clear-cut chances and then Tottenham started to take control. Many fans were optimistic following the match but if the same performance had been produced under Brendan Rodgers, would they have been happy? Liverpool have won just two of their last ten matches in all competitions and have drawn both games in Europa League Group B. Therefore, they could do with a win for a number of reasons.

Rubin Kazan endured a poor start to their domestic season, which led to the sacking of their manager. There have been signs of improvement since current boss Valery Chaly took over and the club secured their first win in seven games at the weekend. Rubin only entered the Europa League due to the removal of another Russian club and have not started well, losing at Sion and being held at home by Bordeaux.

This is the perfect fixture for Klopp to get his first win as Liverpool manager and despite the injury problems, it should be a fairly comfortable night for the home team.
