La Liga preview – Atletico Madrid vs Malaga prediction.

Thomas Partey returned to the fray for Atletico on Wednesday but may return to the bench on Saturday as Diego Simeone could make adjustments for Gabi’s return from suspension.  Midfielder Thiago and central defender Jose Gimenez are back in training but are doubtful members of the matchday squad while Diego Godin is ruled out with a hamstring strain. Fernando Torres scored his fifth goal in five games to clinch victory over Bilbao in midweek and will partner Antoine Griezmann in attack.

Malaga coach Javi Gracia has no new injury concerns following Wednesday’s encounter with Rayo Vallecano at La Rosaleda. Goalkeeper Carlos Kameni is still recovering from a virus which delayed his return from injury while Juan Carlos is ruled out with an Achilles problem. Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu is pushing for a start after a number of substitute appearances this month.

Atletico Madrid vs Malaga Prediction

Atletico’s 1-0 win in Bilbao on Wednesday was their third consecutive clean sheet and fourth win in a row. Simeone’s men have lost once at home in La Liga this season and are undefeated in 14 home league games since losing to Barcelona in September. They are level on points with Barcelona at the top of the league and with little chance of pulling back the 25 goals they trail on goal difference, will be focussed on taking their wins and hoping Barca slip up.   Malaga have not won in the last four games in which they have picked up three points in total from struggling Espanyol, Granada and Vallecano. They have recorded one win in the last six away games in La Liga, playing a draw in three of the last four. Malaga have drawn 12 of 34 league games this season with only Deportivo having drawn more. Atletico should be able to gain another three points in their race with Barcelona and could become the first team to beat Malaga by more than one goal for over five months.
