Thomas Partey returned to the fray for Atletico on Wednesday but may return to the bench on Saturday as Diego Simeone could make adjustments for Gabi’s return from suspension. Midfielder Thiago and central defender Jose Gimenez are back in training but are doubtful members of the matchday squad while Diego Godin is ruled out with a hamstring strain. Fernando Torres scored his fifth goal in five games to clinch victory over Bilbao in midweek and will partner Antoine Griezmann in attack.
Malaga coach Javi Gracia has no new injury concerns following Wednesday’s encounter with Rayo Vallecano at La Rosaleda. Goalkeeper Carlos Kameni is still recovering from a virus which delayed his return from injury while Juan Carlos is ruled out with an Achilles problem. Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu is pushing for a start after a number of substitute appearances this month.
