Premier League preview – Chelsea vs Manchester City prediction.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa can return after serving a two-match ban which may leave Alexandre Pato on the bench for the kick-off. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was left out of the side last weekend but is expected to regain his place for the visit of Manchester City on Saturday. Gary Cahill and Nemanja Matic resumed training this week but remain doubtful. Eden Hazard, John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Loic Remy remain sidelined.

Yaya Toure is pushing for a place after making substitute appearances in the last two games for Manchester City. Pellegrini is getting close to having a full-strength squad for the first time this season with Vincent Kompany close to a comeback and only Raheem Sterling out of action for the rest of the month.

Prediction

Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup last month leaving little interest in the remainder of the season. They have since played three Premier League games, drawing at home to West Ham, beating bottom-the-league Aston Villa and losing at Swansea last weekend. Guus Hiddink is taking the opportunity to assess one or two fringe players and with only one win in the last six games, Chelsea seem to be lacking motivation and a competitive edge.   Manchester City will arrive high on confidence after getting the better of PSG in the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday. The City squad is getting stronger and as a result, their form is improving with three wins and a draw in the last four competitive games. Pellegrini is pushing his players for a top four finish and with only one defeat in the last seven Premier League away games, will not expect to leave Stamford Bridge empty-handed. Manchester City look the best bet if they can retain the sharpness they showed at the Etihad in midweek.
