Premier League preview – Everton vs Manchester United prediction

Everton are missing Leighton Baines, Tom Cleverley, Steven Peinaar and Tony Hibert to long term injuries but Roberto Martinez is set to play a fairly unchanged team.

Manchester United are without left back Luke Shaw while Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Marcos Rojo and Bastian Schweinsteiger have question marks over their fitness.

Possible Line-ups

Everton:  4-2-3-1 formation:  Howard; Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Galloway; McCarthy, Barry; Naismith, Barkley, Deulofeu; Lukaku

Manchester United:  4-2-3-1 formation:  De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Blind; Schneiderlin, Carrick; Mata, Rooney, Young; Martial

Statistics

  • Everton have won 4, drawn 5 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Manchester United have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Everton have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester United have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Everton’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 9 of Manchester United’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Everton are a team that has improved as the early campaign has gone on and now look like a threat to any side that visits Goodison Park.

United’s full backs will have another tough task on Saturday afternoon with Gerard Deulofeu and Steven Naismith both in form for the Toffies. Both Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind were run ragged in their last club fixture against Arsenal, and there will be key battles in wide areas again this week.

It wasn’t so long ago that the Red Devils topped the table and this game looks fairly balanced, but home advantage might just tip the odds in Everton’s favour.
