Premier League preview – Norwich vs Leicester prediction

Both teams will be looking for the win when Leicester travel to Carrow Road on Saturday. Three points separate the teams in the league and they have both had similar starts to the 2015/2016 campaign. Norwich have looked like a seasoned Premier League team this season with three wins and just the one loss in the last six games, including an away draw at Liverpool. They would feel unfortunate at conceding a last gasp equaliser against West Ham last time out and will be looking to kill the game off should they go ahead on Saturday to ensure lightening doesn’t strike twice. Norwich will be without injured players Andreu, Hooper, Mulumbu, and Odjidja-Ofoe for the game.

Leicester were part of a fantastic game at the Emirates against Arsenal last weekend and will feel aggrieved at the score-line of 5-2 when for much of the game they were just as attacking and fun to watch as the Gunners. Jamie Vardy will be one to look out for in this match as he managed to score, hit the crossbar and hit the post all within the space of ten minutes last weekend. The Foxes go into the weekend without Dyer, Hamer, James, Konchesky, Lawrence and Moore, who are all sidelined due to injury.

Possible Line-Ups

Norwich – 4-4-1-1 Ruddy, Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Olssen, Redmond, Tettey, Howson, Brady, Hoolahan, Jerome

Leicester – 4-4-2 Schmeicel, de Laet, Morgan, Huth, Schlupp, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Kante, Albrighton, Okazaki, Vardy

Statistics

Leicester have been flying so far this season and have lost just once in their last 10 games in all competitions – their 5-2 loss last weekend against Arsenal.

In their last ten matches, Norwich have an average of 1.8 goals per game against Leicester’s record of 2.3 goals per game – expect goals.

Between the clubs they have only 1 clean sheet in their last ten matches – Norich beat West Brom 3-0 two games ago.

Again, in the last ten matches, Norwich have scored 3 or more goals eight times and Leicester have done the same seven times.

Predictions

As you can probably see from the above stats, this game should be full of goals. I think it is safe to say that a 0-0 will not be happening, although, it is football we are talking about so you can expect anything come Saturday. The two teams haven’t played each other since an FA Cup clash in February 2012, when David Nugent’s strike handed the Foxes a 2-1 victory at Carrow Road. I can see the same result – if not the same scoreline – repeating itself this Saturday. It will be a challenge for Leicester to recover from their first loss of the season, but Ranieri’s side always look capable of creating opportunities home and away.

Norwich however will be looking for the win as they feel they should perhaps have gotten all three points against a good West Ham side last weekend. They have a good strike force and Brady is one to watch out for on the wing.
