Premier League football tips – Tottenham vs Stoke prediction

Tottenham should have Hugo Lloris back in goal, having played 90 minutes for under 21’s during the week. However, full-back Danny Rose is still a doubt and having performed well last week at Old Trafford, Simon Davies may well keep his place in the team regardless. Ryan Mason could come in to the midfield and Erik Lamela may start further forward.

Stoke completed the club record signing of Xherdan Shaqiri this week and the Swiss international could start on the bench. Erik Pieters is a doubt, having come off with an injury last weekend and both Mark Arnautovic and Marc Wilson are also struggling to make it. Bojan is still out of the reckoning at present.

Possible Line-ups

Tottenham: 4-2-3-1 formation: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Mason, Bentaleb; Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli; Kane

Stoke: 4-2-3-1 formation: Butland, Johnson, Cameron, Wollscheid, Muniesa; Ginkel, Whelan; Walters, Adam, Afellay; Diouf

  • Tottenham have won 5 and lost 5 of their last 10 matches
  • Stoke have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Tottenham have scored an average of 0.9 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Stoke have scored an average of 1.8 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Tottenham’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Stoke’s previous 10 matches
  • Stoke did the double over Tottenham in the Premier League last season

Tottenham played well at times last weekend against Manchester United and could easily have gone in-front, before going on to lose the game 1-0. There’s no doubt, as last week showed, that Spurs are capable of creating good chances in games, it’s just a case of taking those chances and converting them in to goals.

Stoke also put in a good display last weekend, despite being on the end of a negative result. If it wasn’t for a spectacular strike, the Potters would have picked up a point against Liverpool. However, remaining solid will only get a team so far and with the addition of Shaqiri, perhaps Stoke will be able to create a bit more in the final third. That being said, Shaqiri is likely to be on the bench for this one and could have minimal impact if not 100% match fit.

Stoke have good memories of White Hart Lane last season but problems at the back, coupled with the loss of Bojan mean it could be a struggle this time around.

We say: Tottenham to win to nil at 15/8 with Bet365
