Serie A preview – Udinese vs Inter prediction

Udinese will make changes to the team that lost 3-0 at Fiorentina on Sunday with central defensive partners Felipe and Danilo suspended. Molla Wague is working his way to full fitness and will be hoping to provide cover along with the experienced Giovanni Pasquale. There’s been no reason given for the doubts around Emmanuel Badu’s involvement on Saturday however Panagiotis Kone is close to return from a muscle injury that his kept him out for three months.

Inter full-back Yuto Nagatomo has served his one-match ban and could slot in on the right for Danilo D’Ambrosio who saw red against Genoa last week. Felipe Melo was scanned for a head injury after clashing with teammate Gary Medel in the same game but is understood to have been given the all clear. The club has not set a return date for Geoffrey Kondogbia who is suffering muscle fatigue or Davide Santon who has missed three games with a bruised ankle.

Possible Line-ups

Udinese: 3-5-2 formation: Karnezis; Wague, Pasquale, Piris; Widner, Fernandes, Lodi, Iturra, Edenilson; Thereau, Aguirre

Inter: 4-2-3-1 formation: Handanovic; Nagatomo, Miranda, Murillo, Telles; Medel, Melo; Biabiany, Jovetic, Ljajic; Palacio

Statistics

  • Udinese have won 4 drawn 3 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Inter have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Udinese have scored an average of 1.3 goals and conceded an average of 1.4 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Inter have scored an average of 1.2 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Udinese’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Inter’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Udinese have steadied the ship since losing their first three home games having won two and drawn two of the last four league games in Udine. However this is probably the biggest test in front of their own crowd since losing 3-2 against Milan in September and comes a week after a confidence sapping 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina.

Inter’s two defeats this season have been against title rivals Fiorentina and Napoli. Roberto Mancini’s men only ever seem to do enough to win their games, with the exception of a 4-0 victory against Frosinone last month, Inter’s league victories have been by a one goal margin and nine of those were 1-0.

Udinese don’t score many at home and given Inter’s record this season, a low scoring win for the visitors looks the way to go.
